President and Chief Executive Officer
In his role as president and CEO, John Shagoury brings more than 30 years of management, sales and marketing experience in the software business. This experience supports his efforts to drive growth for Eliza's technology and services–with the goal of improving our clients’ health outcomes while reducing their overall healthcare costs.
John has spent the past 20 years as President or Division President of market-leading software and healthcare IT businesses. His most recent role was Division President at Nuance Communications, running the company’s healthcare division including speech-driven solutions focused on Enterprise solutions for EHR adoption and Meaningful Use.
John has consistently delivered growth through his expertise in developing new sales channels and strategic partnerships, international expansion, product line optimization and new business development. In addition, he has been involved in a number of mergers and acquisitions. He previously held President roles at Corporate Software, Dragon Systems and Kubi Software and held management positions at Lotus Development and ONTechnology.
John holds his bachelor’s degree in marketing and MBA in management from Babson College.
Founder and Chief Technology Officer
Lucas is responsible for research, development, and operations at Eliza. He oversees the development of Eliza's core technology, cloud platform, and intellectual property portfolio. He brings 20 years of experience in technology and business development in healthcare—with a focus on new ideas, new ventures, and innovation.
Lucas joined Eliza from DEKA R&D Corporation, where he led the development and launch of breakthrough medical devices including the IBOT™ personal transporter. At DEKA he also worked extensively in developing the firm's patent portfolio and licensing business. Prior to DEKA, Lucas co-founded Adheris, a leading firm in the field of prescription compliance management and informatics that was acquired by inVentiv Health. Lucas also has held senior management positions at firms specializing in healthcare IT, strategy consulting, electronics, and wireless communications.
Lucas holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from MIT and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. His focus at MIT included digital signal processing, speech and image recognition, and controls for real time systems. His interests at Harvard included studying the application of emerging technologies to address important healthcare issues. Lucas serves on the boards of several start-up and non-profit organizations, including the Crotched Mountain School and Rehabilitation Center.
Ralph Perfetto, Jr., Ph.D.
Chief Analytics Officer
Dr. Ralph Perfetto brings over 20 years of experience creating innovative solutions for measuring the effectiveness of care, health plan performance, and patient outcomes. In his role as Chief Analytics Officer, Ralph is responsible for the strategic development and operationalization of Eliza’s consumer health data assets – including our proprietary Behavioral Intelligence asset – to ensure optimal engagement and impact. He also oversees the delivery of professional services in the areas of Strategic Analytics and Interaction Design.
Ralph has extensive healthcare-specific knowledge in managed care, risk analysis, and product adoption, based on his previous leadership role at PatientInsights Division of Optum, where he served as Vice President of Product Development and Population Health. Prior, Ralph co-founded QualityMetric, a health survey company acquired by Optum, and was a co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Response Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of software and hardware solutions used to measure health risks, and provide immediate feedback reports to patients and employees engaged in wellness initiatives.
Ralph helped to commercialize the world’s most widely used patient-based health outcomes measurement tools (SF-12/36 v2®). He also co-developed patented data-driven, psychometrically valid, computer-adaptive health outcome tools used for managing disease and measuring patients’ physical and emotional well-being during various treatment options.
Ralph serves as an Adjunct Professor of Marketing for Worcester Polytechnic Institute and has published work in several peer-reviewed marketing journals. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Masters of Business Administration, and a PhD in Business Administration, all from the University of Rhode Island.
Chief Revenue Officer
David Morris supports Eliza’s continued growth and industry leadership. He is a results-oriented executive with over 25 years of accomplished professional work experience, encompassing sales, business development and client services for healthcare-focused technology and services companies.
David joined Eliza from Health Dialog where he was Senior Vice President of Sales and Services, and played a key role in the company’s efforts to help health plans, employers and providers address their entire populations with solutions across the full spectrum of health. Prior to Health Dialog, David was Vice President for SAP America's Healthcare business working with leading payers and providers, and a national account team. He also was responsible for establishing and managing IMS Health's top-tier payer customer base as their Vice President of Business Development.
SVP, Chief Financial Officer
Mark is responsible for leading the finance, accounting, forecasting, and legal functions at Eliza. He has over 25 years of financial management and operations experience in high growth companies within the healthcare and high tech industries and brings a proven track record of value creation through strategic and M&A activities.
Prior to joining Eliza, Mark held senior executive roles including Senior Vice President, CFO, and Vice President, General Manager in global companies including Keystone Dental, Haemonetics Corp, Lifeline Systems, Thomson Financial, Deloitte and more. Mark is a graduate of Northeastern University and is a certified public accountant.
Vice President of Human Resources
Paula recently joined Eliza Corporation bringing a strong background in Human Resource and administrative management experiences across a diverse set of service and product providers.
In the 15 years prior to Eliza, she worked in the Life Sciences industry where she led the Human Resources area that enabled the growth of a smaller and family-owned start-up biotech company into a leading global antibody development company. There, Paula built the HR department from the ground up while the employee base grew from 40 employees all in one location, to over 400 in multiple locations across the U.S. and internationally. Paula also established and grew an Internship Program that has been recognized locally and nationally for its success in serving the community as an educational partner and a valuable feeder system for the company’s next generation of employees.
Prior to that, Paula worked primarily in the financial services sectors at companies such as Fidelity Investments and Coopers & Lybrand (now PWC).
Paula serves her community as a Board Member of the Workforce Investment Board of Greater Salem, and is also a Committee Member of the Board’s Youth Pipeline Committee that helps place students into jobs on the Northshore. She earned her BS in Business Administration from Lesley University, and her MBA from Endicott College.
