THE SCIENCE BEHIND ENGAGEMENT KEYNOTE ADDRESS

The ‘FIFTY BITS’ to Healthcare Engagement
As chief scientist emeritus at ESI, Dr. Bob Nease oversaw the development and deployment of unique solutions to activate the good intentions of millions of patients. In his recent book, “The Power of Fifty Bits: The New Science of Turning Good Intentions into Positive Results” (HarperCollins), Bob shares his insights about the science of our bad behaviors and practical solutions for making things better.

In today’s healthcare environment, efforts to increase patient engagement are front and center for today’s healthcare organizations. If we’re to be honest, however, getting people to do what’s in their own best interest seems like fighting an uphill battle. In this engaging and thought-provoking presentation, Dr. Bob Nease explains the science behind the all-too-real twin challenges of inattention and inertia and shares a handful of proven strategies that can lead to better health outcomes.

BAN THE "YES, BUT..."
In large organizations and regulated environments, the innovative thinking we need to solve new problems and capitalize on new opportunities can easily get squeezed out. But the rapid pace of change in healthcare requires us to be more creative than ever. In this engaging and interactive session, you’ll discover how to re-train your brain for creativity, so that you ’ll instantly become the guru of innovative ideas.

In this session Susan will be teaching attendees on how to become a more nimble problem-solver, an agent of change in your organization, the ability to readily come up with creative ideas by seeing problems from a new perspective, and powerful new thinking tools that you can immediately apply to any new challenges or opportunities as they arise.

Outcomes2016 - Summary

For the second year in a row, Eliza held another successful Client Summit at the Charles Hotel in Cambridge. We had a wonderful turnout of over 100 clients, colleagues, and partners.  Over our two-day conference, we heard from innovative industry leaders and had some fun too! Our clients and Eliza leaders discussed how in a dysfunctional healthcare industry we have to change the conversations with consumers.

  • Learned we need to be aware of unmentionables that interfere with healthcare
  • Rethinking and reprioritizing what really matters in consumers lives, like getting a job before adhering to care programs
  • Do a better job talking to consumers as people to identify what matters to them, as Stuart Diamond termed connected with the micro-culture
  • Engage with consumers with EMPATHY and not force them into conventional solutions

During the event, we sat down with a few of the attendees and asked them what brought them to the event and what they planned to take back to their organizations. Check out our brief video of attendee interviews.
